Who We Are
We are a family-owned, family-run business located at the foot of the mountains in Central Idaho. Our goal at Muteki Knives is to provide our customers with high performance, handcrafted knives. We continue to hand-forge every knife in the Japanese bladesmithing tradition, as taught to us by Master Bladesmith Murray Carter. Murray, who is 17th generation Yoshimoto bladesmith, spent 18 years in Japan learning the trade. After handcrafting over 31,000 knives and gaining international recognition, Murray continues making top tier knives, and has devoted time teaching us his skills and knowledge of bladesmithing. He will continue to mentor us at Muteki as we make knives, since he lives nearby.
Each detail of the process is followed carefully to ensure the same, high quality knives Muteki customers have come to love and appreciate. Following the Japanese bladesmithing tradition, we carefully water quench each blade by eye. Our knives are then tested for the correct temper before carefully being fitted with handles, each unique with different wood and composite combinations and sanded to shape by hand. The blades are then hand honed on Japanese water stones to razor sharp and put in boxes, ready to go. A final inspection is done before being shipped to our customers.
At Muteki Knives, we are dedicated to excellent customer service and aim to give you the best experience possible.
